Willem Eikelboom, who is affiliated with the Alzheimer Center of the Erasmus Medical Center (Erasmus MC), conducted PhD research into changes in behavior and emotions in people with early stages of dementia. Our goal was to design a suitable cover and chapter layout without making use of figurative interpretation and visual clichés surrounding Alzheimer's disease. By abstractly depicting the change and the loss of memory with color, shape and composition, we managed to create a recognizable and distinguished look.
